TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS .....

PSALM 90:1-12

(1) Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.  (2)  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth the world even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.  (3)  Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.  (4) For a thousand years in the sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.  (5)  Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.  (6)  In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.  (7)  For we are consumed by thine anger, and by they wrath are we troubled.  (8)  Thou has set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.  (9)  For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.  (10)  The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
(11)  Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
(12)  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

COMMENTARY:

Brethren in the Lord, in this Psalms Moses glorifies God for his preeminence over all creation.  Moses's, perspective of God's creation in this psalm is; he is the creator of all things, and in control of his creation.
Brethren, we do not know what goes on in our lives (spiritually) when we come to this earth; we run around in this sinful world thinking that we are able to do all things ourselves without God help. We have (good health, are energetic, good jobs, money, houses and material possessions); we continue to think that we attained all things ourselves, but we do not pause to ask ourselves (what is this life?, what is our mission? and how can we please God in our mission?).
Brethren in Christ, every soul on this earth is on a mission for either Jesus or Satan, there is no in between missions; as a result, we need to slow down and pray to God to show us our God given purposes in this life for our days are short.  Let us not continue to run after things of this world and miss our divine purpose in life.
The psalmist says, we are like flower of the field with flourisheth and groweth up in the morning but are cut down in the evening.

CONCLUSION:

Brethren, Jesus is in the garden of life, (his creation) and he will prone or cut down any of his flowers as he chooses.  Do we know which flower will be prone or cut down at the end of the day?
No, we do not, neither do we know the power of his anger when we sin against him; therefore, let us worship God and glorify his name everyday in hymns and songs of praises.
We also have to acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior to inherit eternal life with him at the end of our missions on earth.  Jesus will save us from all sins!  Amen and Amen!
