BOAST NOT THYSELF ............

PROVERBS 27:1-2

(1)  Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou know est not what a day may bring forth.  (2)  Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

COMMENTARY:

Brethren in the Lord, in this context King Solomon counsels us not to brag about the affairs of tomorrow for we do not know the surprises of that day.  When we awake in the morning before we walk out to our various activities of the day, we need to pray for God to take control ; but (what do we do?) we boast on our schedules of the day such as (going to work, after work to groceries, to auntie Mavis house, to golfing, and dinner with friends, etc..), once we walk out of our houses we know not what will interrupt our planned schedules, or if we will ever be back home again.
Lets not be boastful of tomorrow.
In the second verse, King Solomon advised us not to be self righteous and boast of what God has done in our lives. e.g. (good health, academic achievements, material blessings, and promotions).
First of all, we need to know that God is the giver of all things and our successes are from him and not ourselves; therefore, when we flourish in life, let us give God all the glory.  The scripture says  to let a stranger admire and praise us when we prosper; for God is glorified through our successes because of his goodness and mercies in our lives.
Romans 11:18   (1)  Boast not against the branches.  But if thou boast, thou bear est not the root, but root thee.

CONCLUSION:

Brethren in the Lord, (What is the point?)  The point is we need to entrust each day to the hand of the Almighty God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; in our prayers, let us plead the blood of Jesus to direct the activities of our days, and to protect us from all the perils and dangers of this world.
Brethren, remember not to be boastful about anything, but give God all the glory; he will continue to bless us.  Amen and Amen!
