(13) And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
(14) And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting;
(15) And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
(16) And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
CLEANSE YE THY TEMPLES!
(13) And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, Brethren, firstly, what is the meaning of Passover? per Webster dictionary definition, Passover is a Jewish holiday in March or April that celebrates the freeing of Jews from Slavery in Egypt; however, from biblical understanding, (i) Passover celebration came out of the night when all Jews in bondage of Egypt were freed from slavery; when the Jews were instructed to sanctify their doors with blood to turn away death from entering into their abode. (Exodus 12:21-24); (ii) when our Father sent out angel of death to kill all first born of both human and animals in the land of Egypt, (Exodus 12:29); in this context, on a Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem; it is normal for Jews to go into the temple on day of Passover to worship our Father of all creation.
(14) And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting; When Jesus got to the temple in Jerusalem, he found some folks trading in oxen, sheep and doves, and other folks exchanging money; when he saw what was going on, I believe that Jesus asked himself these questions; "Am I seeing this right?" "On a day of Passover?" "What is going on here?" "In my Father's house?" today, believers worship in sanctuaries over the world where there are no traders or money changers doing business within congregations; however, if congregations are not spiritually charged enough and services are lukewarm, demonic spirits will take control of churches, attack worshipers and send them back home with more troubles than what they had before they came into the services; therefore, let us fire up the power of the Holy Spirit with songs of praises and adoration during worship services; for the Holy Spirit to move within the congregation, take absolute control of the congregation; to subdue all infiltration spirits, who come in to hinder believers from assimilating the word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; for, believers cannot be spiritually lukewarm, neither can they be cold but they have to be in tune with the Holy Spirit, and be spiritually hot as hot cakes at all times; for, it is written, So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:16).
(15) And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
Brethren, when Jesus saw what was going on in the house of our Father; he was moved greatly by the Holy Spirit; he made a whip of small cords, drove the traders and money changers out of the temple, freed the animals, cast away the changers money, overturn their trading tables, saying unto them; It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. (Matthew 21;13); though there are no traders or money changers in sanctuaries today; if we receive revelations from the Holy Spirit or observed atrocities in houses of worships; what will you and I do? Should we step up in faith to correct those abnormalities in the house of our Father? or Should we save ourselves from troubles, turn deaf ears, move away, pretend like we did know about them? as believers, let us ponder on these things.
(16) And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. Jesus told the traders that sold doves; "Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father's house into a market!" believers, can we image what was going on among the congregation? today, let us ask ourselves, what can we do spiritually in our sanctuaries to remove traces of manifestations of demonic activities (i) Firstly, we have to pray for help from our Father to realize our shortcomings; for we cannot fix problems that we do not have; if our sanctuaries are perfect; praise be to our Father for his good works within his body; (ii) if there are flaws within the body of Christ; we have to pray without ceasing, seek directions from the Holy Spirit on what to do to rectify abnormalities within the body of Christ; (iii) once we identify problems, receive directions from the Holy Spirit on what to do, let us take actions hold meetings, regarding plans to execute his words from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, move forward with his ministry, to save lost souls from darkness into repentance, salvation, grace and life everlasting.
CONCLUSION:
Dearly beloved, in today's lesson, we learn that we can effect positives changes in the body of Christ; regardless of where we worship; if the congregation is under the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, we are together in his body with the same Holy Spirit working through our mortal bodies for his glorification; however, let us beware of tares among the wheat in our congregations and speak up with wisdom and gentleness when necessary; let not assume anything that cannot not be proven or spread rumors and cause havoc in the body of Christ; but in everything, let us pray without ceasing to put all things into proper perspectives through the Holy Spirit and trust Jesus Christ to take absolute control of all negative circumstances forever and evermore. Amen and amen!
