DAILY BREAD OF LIFE

(KJV.)  LUKE 6:47-49

(47)  Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings,  and doeth them,  I will shew you to whom he is like:
(48)  He is like a man which built an house,  and digged deep,  and laid the foundation on a rock:  and when the flood arose,  the stream beat vehemently upon that house,  and could not shake it:  for it was founded upon a rock.
(49)  But he that heareth,  and doeth not,  is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth;  against which the stream did beat vehemently,  and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

HEARERS AND DOERS

Brethren, we must endeavor to preach the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, regardless of how we feel physically or in weather related conditions; let us set aside our personal agendas, do his will first;  if we put him first in everything we do, he will make sure that our own commitments are taken care off as well;  for early bird catches the worm; and our callings are to his service, not ours; if we earnestly serve him with all our minds, souls and bodies, our services are not done in vain, but there are earthly and heavenly rewards everlasting.

In verse forty-six of this chapter,  Jesus asked his disciples and a great multitude of people;  "And why call ye me,  Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?;  that is a good question, if we call ourselves believers of Jesus Christ, then, let us obey his words, acknowledge our heavenly Father as the one and only Father, love him with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength; do his will and love our neighbors as ourselves;  if we love our Father, he will set his eyes upon us and grant us our heart desires; if we love one another as ourselves, we will not do evil against one another, but will look up for each other, uplift, encourage and inspire one another as brothers and sisters of the same Father, strives and warfares will cease, the Holy Spirit will reign supreme in our hearts, as shinning lights of the world, there will peace on earth;  therefore, when we read the scriptures and listen to sermons, let us assimilate his words, practice what we have read or heard from sermons; be doers of his words and not hearers alone.

In the above text, Jesus told a parable of the wise and foolish builders saying; in other words, "If we come to him, hear his words and do them; we are like men who dug the ground deeper built houses with rocky foundations, and when excessive rainfall disaster came, and overflowing waters prevails forcefully upon their houses, its foundations cannot be shaken or thrown down: for they are strong and builded upon rocks.";  therefore, when we read and hear words of Jesus Christ, let us endeavor to incorporate them into our actions and behaviors; for when trails and tribulations prevails against us,  regardless of our sufferings, our faiths build upon his words cannot be shaken, we will overcome every storm by his blood;  therefore, let us build our faith upon his righteousness:  on the contrarily, if we hear his words but refuse to obey him, we are like houses without solid foundations built upon the dust of the earth; when the storms come  and overflowing waters prevails forcefully upon, those house will collapse, wash away by forcefully overflowing waters and damages cannot be recovered forever;  therefore, let us think through these two scenarios, know what we are doing as believers with hope of eternal lives.

CONCLUSION:

Dearly beloved, it is easy to talk about faith in words, and another thing to actually apply it to our lives when in sufferings;  Jesus said, "Have faith in God." (Mark 11:22); very encouraging, faith is an important factor in believers lives;  without faith it is impossible to please Jesus Christ;  as believers, before we can really minister to others about faith;  many times, our faiths are tested and sufferings prevails against our souls; however, if we practise what we read, hear and believe, we will overcome all obstacles by the blood of Jesus Christ and by the words of our testimonies; therefore, regardless of what may seem to prevail against our souls presently; let us anchor ourselves in Jesus Christ,  we will not wash away with forceful overflowing rivers, but stand firmly on foundations of rock, build upon words of Jesus Christ, put faith into practice, pray fervently, have patience and wait upon him; all negativities are being washed away by forceful rivers, positive changes are underway, rejoice and give thanks to our Father through Jesus Christ forever and evermore.  Amen and Amen!
